Sunday School Curriculum

Diocesan Curriculum Now Updated For Use With The 2019 BCP

Many years ago, the Christian Education Commission created a free, lectionary-based Sunday school curriculum for children and youth.  This curriculum is now being updated to align with the lectionary of the 2019 Book of Common Prayer.  Lessons are divided into four sections: PreK-Kinder, Elementary, Junior High/Middle School, and Senior High. The lessons include the lectionary readings, an exegesis for teachers, and a complete lesson for each age group with opening and closing prayers, a supply list, preparation instructions, script for teaching, detailed instructions for the class activity and/or discussion, and a memory verse.  Where possible, each includes coloring pages, templates, cutouts, etc. to make preparation a snap.   These lessons are designed to be easy to use, requiring little preparation, and using inexpensive and easy to find supplies.  Each one is available as a separate document so that you can find the one you need and print or refer to it without a lot of scrolling.  Each Sunday also has a separate Fun Page that includes a quick overview of what the students learned about, a few questions to help them think more deeply about it, and a fun activity like a puzzle game, coloring page, sermon scavenger hunt, and more.  Fun Pages can be used in class, sent home for parents to follow up with during the week, or included in your Sunday bulletin for all to enjoy.  All lessons and Fun Pages were written by members of the Commission to reflect the theology and practices of our diocese.  If you have any questions about the curriculum, please contact Kristy Leaseburg at kleaseburg@adfw.org
